I already own a perfectly functioning Kindle, so I realize that buying a new one is a big waste of money for anyone that’s not a big book person. Because, come on, all of us book nerds know that when a better and newer e-reader comes along, you buy it. No questions asked. I held off when I saw the Kindle Touch, because it didn’t seem like a big step up from the one I have. However, the Kindle Paperwhite is a BIG improvement. It has a lighted screen, it’s touch screen, it has more fonts, X-ray (finding information within a book will be much easier!), it displays book covers instead of titles on the home page (what I’ve been dreaming of!), and some other cool things that I can’t remember.
So, obviously, I had to have it. Unfortunately, it won’t be sold until October 1. AND to make matters worse, there are so many people that have pre-ordered it that they won’t ship for a few extra weeks. Despite all of this, however, I went ahead and pre-ordered my NEW Kindle. Mine is set to arrive on October 24th. It looks fudging amazing. I hate waiting, it’s so horrible. I realize that I shouldn’t complain though, because the Kindle Paperwhite will only be available to customers inside the United States next month. Everyone else will have to wait a bit more to get them. That’s so sad! Anyways, here’s the commercial for the new kindle:

Lucky! I have been dreaming of hte book covers vs titles thing too – that might make me have to upgrade my kindle touch sooner rather than later! Can’t wait to hear what you think when you get it.

YES! The book cover thing has been what I’ve looked forward to the most since I saw that the first Kobo e-reader had it!

I’m so back and forth on figuring out which ereader to get! I’m trying to wait until the Mac Mini comes out to truly make my decision. This new Kindle seems like a great pick though! Congrats!

I too, am waiting for my Kindle paperwhite…and being from Canada, ordered it for delivery to a friends house in the US. Just hoping the it make it way to my place before November. I sold my existing one to pay for this one – so I am going through withdrawl and reading on my iPad sucks!

I was thinking of selling the one I have now, but I’m afraid of the withdrawl! I’ll wait until I have the new one to sell it.

I’m waiting too! I skipped the last generation, didn’t feel the need to leave the Kindle Keyboard until now. I gifted mine to my mother and have been suffering reading on the iPad. I will really miss the TTS though.
I’m thinking of giving mine away since it won’t be worth much if I sell it. The waiting is horrible, but it’ll be worth it when we have our new kindles!!!
